8 | 8 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
9 | 9 | SECTION 1. Subchapter E, Chapter 130, Education Code, is | |
10 | 10 | amended by adding Section 130.0828 to read as follows: | |
11 | 11 | Sec. 130.0828. GOVERNING BOARD OF CLARENDON COLLEGE | |
12 | 12 | DISTRICT. (a) Notwithstanding any other provision of this | |
13 | 13 | subchapter, the governing board of the Clarendon College District | |
14 | 14 | may by resolution or order of the board decrease the number of board | |
15 | 15 | members from nine to seven. | |
16 | 16 | (b) A resolution or order of the governing board under this | |
17 | 17 | section must establish transition terms of office to conform to | |
18 | 18 | elections held in even-numbered years and staggered six-year terms, | |
19 | 19 | with the initial board terms of two members expiring in 2020, of | |
20 | 20 | three members expiring in 2022, and of two members expiring in 2024. | |
21 | 21 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
