| 9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Section 39.106(e), Education Code, is amended to | |
| 11 | 11 | read as follows: | |
| 12 | 12 | (e) For each year a campus is assigned an unacceptable | |
| 13 | 13 | performance rating, a campus intervention team shall: | |
| 14 | 14 | (1) [continue to work with a campus until: | |
| 15 | 15 | [(A) the campus satisfies all performance | |
| 16 | 16 | standards under Section 39.054(e) for a two-year period; or | |
| 17 | 17 | [(B) the campus satisfies all performance | |
| 18 | 18 | standards under Section 39.054(e) for a one-year period and the | |
| 19 | 19 | commissioner determines that the campus is operating and will | |
| 20 | 20 | continue to operate in a manner that improves student achievement; | |
| 21 | 21 | [(2)] assist in updating the targeted improvement plan | |
| 22 | 22 | to identify and analyze areas of growth and areas that require | |
| 23 | 23 | improvement; and | |
| 24 | 24 | (2) [(3)] submit each updated plan described by | |
| 25 | 25 | Subdivision (1) [(2)] to the board of trustees of the school | |
| 26 | 26 | district. | |
| 27 | 27 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
