| 8 | 8 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 9 | 9 | SECTION 1. Section 1305.201, Occupations Code, is amended | |
| 10 | 10 | by amending Subsection (a) and adding Subsection (f) to read as | |
| 11 | 11 | follows: | |
| 12 | 12 | (a) This chapter does not prohibit a municipality or region | |
| 13 | 13 | from regulating electricians or residential appliance installers | |
| 14 | 14 | by: | |
| 15 | 15 | (1) enacting an ordinance requiring inspections; | |
| 16 | 16 | (2) offering examinations; | |
| 17 | 17 | (3) issuing municipal or regional licenses; or | |
| 18 | 18 | (4) collecting permit fees for municipal or regional | |
| 19 | 19 | licenses and examinations from [electricians and] appliance | |
| 20 | 20 | installers for work performed in the municipality or region. | |
| 21 | 21 | (f) A municipality or region may not collect a permit fee, | |
| 22 | 22 | registration fee, administrative fee, or any other fee from an | |
| 23 | 23 | electrician who holds a license issued under this chapter for work | |
| 24 | 24 | performed in the municipality or region. | |
| 25 | 25 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
