| 10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Section 34.013, Education Code, is amended to | |
| 11 | 11 | read as follows: | |
| 12 | 12 | Sec. 34.013. BUS SEAT BELT POLICY. (a) In this section, | |
| 13 | 13 | "seat belt" includes a lap belt and a three-point seat belt. | |
| 14 | 14 | (b) A school district shall require a student riding a bus | |
| 15 | 15 | operated by or contracted for operation by the district to wear a | |
| 16 | 16 | seat belt if the bus is equipped with seat belts for all passengers | |
| 17 | 17 | on the bus. | |
| 18 | 18 | (c) A school district may implement a disciplinary policy to | |
| 19 | 19 | enforce the use of seat belts by students. | |
| 20 | 20 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
