The bill would amend the Code of Criminal Procedures to expand eligibility and change application requirements for participants in the Address Confidentiality Program to include certain victims of family violence, sexual assault or abuse, stalking, or trafficking of persons. The bill would amend the Election Code and the Tax Code to expand confidentiality provisions to include certain victims of family violence, sexual assault or abuse, stalking, or trafficking of persons. The Office of Court Administration and the Department of Family and Protective Services indicate that any costs associated with the bill could be absorbed within current resources. The Office of the Attorney General estimates there would be minimal cost associated with increase in application information as a result of the provisions of this bill and this analysis assumes any additional work could be reasonably absorbed within current resources. The bill would take effect immediately upon receiving a two-thirds majority vote in each house. Otherwise, the bill would take effect September 1, 2017.
