The bill would amend the Government Code to remove the minimum handgun caliber requirement when demonstrating the handgun proficiency required to obtain or renew a license to carry a handgun. It is assumed any costs associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be absorbed within existing agency resources. The bill would take effect September 1, 2017.
