64 AN ACT
75 relating to the appointment by certain elected officials of
86 students to receive a Texas Armed Services Scholarship.
97 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
108 SECTION 1. Section 61.9772(b), Education Code, is amended
119 to read as follows:
1210 (b) In each year, the governor and the lieutenant governor
1311 may each appoint two students and two alternates and each state
1412 senator and each state representative may appoint one student and
1513 one alternate to receive an initial scholarship under this
1614 subchapter. If a student appointed under this subsection to
1715 receive a scholarship fails to initially meet eligibility or
1816 otherwise meet the requirements to initially receive the
1917 scholarship, the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board must
2018 notify the alternate on file of their nomination.
2119 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017.
