8 | 8 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
9 | 9 | SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 370, Transportation Code, | |
10 | 10 | is amended by adding Section 370.040 to read as follows: | |
11 | 11 | Sec. 370.040. SUNSET REVIEW. (a) All authorities are | |
12 | 12 | subject to review under Chapter 325, Government Code (Texas Sunset | |
13 | 13 | Act), as if the authorities were state agencies, and unless | |
14 | 14 | continued in existence as provided by that chapter, all authorities | |
15 | 15 | are abolished and this chapter expires September 1, 2019. | |
16 | 16 | (b) An authority shall pay the cost incurred by the Sunset | |
17 | 17 | Advisory Commission in performing a review of the authority under | |
18 | 18 | this section. The Sunset Advisory Commission shall determine the | |
19 | 19 | cost, and the authority shall pay the amount promptly on receipt of | |
20 | 20 | a statement from the Sunset Advisory Commission detailing the cost. | |
21 | 21 | (c) If authorities are not continued in existence as | |
22 | 22 | provided by Chapter 325, Government Code (Texas Sunset Act), the | |
23 | 23 | comptroller shall adopt rules to ensure the payment and discharge | |
24 | 24 | of or other adequate provision for all bonds of authorities that | |
25 | 25 | are outstanding on September 1, 2019. | |
26 | 26 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
