64 AN ACT
75 relating to the term of a chief administrative law judge.
86 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
97 SECTION 1. Section 2003.022(a), Government Code, is amended
108 to read as follows:
119 (a) The office is under the direction of a chief
1210 administrative law judge appointed by the governor for a two-year
1311 term that expires on May 15 of each even-numbered year. The chief
1412 administrative law judge is eligible for reappointment.
1513 SECTION 2. Section 2003.022(a), Government Code, as amended
1614 by this Act, applies only to a chief administrative law judge
1715 appointed under that section on or after the effective date of this
1816 Act. A chief administrative law judge appointed before the
1917 effective date of this Act is governed by the law in effect
2018 immediately before that date and that law is continued in effect for
2119 that purpose.
2220 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017.
