117 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
128 SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 54, Education Code, is
139 amended by adding Section 54.0051 to read as follows:
1410 Sec. 54.0051. DISCLOSURE OF COURSE FEES IN COURSE CATALOG.
1511 Each institution of higher education shall include in the
1612 institution's online course catalog, for each course listed in the
1713 catalog, a description and the amount of any special course fee,
1814 including an online access fee or lab fee, to be charged
1915 specifically for the course. If the institution publishes a paper
2016 course catalog, the institution may publish any fees specifically
2117 charged for each course using the amounts charged in the most recent
2218 academic year.
2319 SECTION 2. Section 54.0051, Education Code, as added by
2420 this Act, applies beginning with course catalogs published for the
2521 2018-2019 academic year.
2622 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2723 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2824 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2925 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
3026 Act takes effect September 1, 2017.
