| 10 | 10 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 11 | 11 | | SECTION 1. Section 16.012, Water Code, is amended by adding |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Subsection (h-1) to read as follows: |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | (h-1) Not later than December 1, 2020, the commission shall |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | obtain or develop updated water availability models for the Brazos, |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Guadalupe, San Antonio, Sulphur, and Rio Grande River basins. The |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | commission may collect data from all jurisdictions that allocate |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | the waters of the rivers, including jurisdictions outside this |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | state. This subsection expires September 1, 2021. |

| 19 | 19 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect only if a specific |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | appropriation for the implementation of the Act is provided in a |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | general appropriations act of the 85th Legislature. |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
