| 9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 531, Government Code, is | |
| 11 | 11 | amended by adding Section 531.0881 to read as follows: | |
| 12 | 12 | Sec. 531.0881. KINSHIP CAREGIVER NAVIGATOR PROGRAM. (a) | |
| 13 | 13 | The executive commissioner, using existing resources, shall | |
| 14 | 14 | establish a statewide kinship caregiver navigator program that | |
| 15 | 15 | facilitates access to information and referrals to services for | |
| 16 | 16 | relative and kinship caregivers of children. | |
| 17 | 17 | (b) The kinship caregiver navigator program established | |
| 18 | 18 | under this section must include an information and referral | |
| 19 | 19 | network. The information and referral network shall incorporate all | |
| 20 | 20 | health and human services agencies and divisions within the | |
| 21 | 21 | commission that provide services to children, including: | |
| 22 | 22 | (1) the Department of Family and Protective Services; | |
| 23 | 23 | (2) the Department of State Health Services; and | |
| 24 | 24 | (3) any division of the commission that oversees: | |
| 25 | 25 | (A) social services; | |
| 26 | 26 | (B) community-based services; or | |
| 27 | 27 | (C) access and eligibility for Medicaid or the | |
| 28 | 28 | child health plan program and the services provided through those | |
| 29 | 29 | programs. | |
| 30 | 30 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
