| 9 | 9 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 10 | 10 | | SECTION 1. Section 572.0291, Government Code, is amended to |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | read as follows: |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Sec. 572.0291. ELECTRONIC FILING REQUIRED. (a) A |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | financial statement filed with the commission must be filed by |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | computer diskette, modem, or other means of electronic transfer, |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | using computer software provided by the commission or computer |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | software that meets commission specifications for a standard file |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | format. |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | (b) Subsection (a) does not apply to an appointed officer |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | appointed by the governor. |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | SECTION 2. The change in law to Section 572.0291, |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Government Code, made by this Act applies to a financial statement |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | under Chapter 572, Government Code, that is filed on or after the |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | effective date of this Act, without regard to the date of the |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | deadline for filing the report. |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
