| 9 | 7 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 10 | 8 | | SECTION 1. The heading to Section 504.320, Transportation |

| 11 | 9 | | Code, as added by Chapter 708 (H.B. 1128), Acts of the 84th |
|---|
| 12 | 10 | | Legislature, Regular Session, 2015, is amended to read as follows: |

| 13 | 11 | | Sec. 504.320. RECIPIENTS OF CERTAIN COMBAT BADGES, MEDALS, |
|---|
| 14 | 12 | | OR RIBBONS [ACTION BADGE, MEDAL, OR RIBBON RECIPIENTS]. |

| 15 | 13 | | SECTION 2. Section 504.320, Transportation Code, as added |
|---|
| 16 | 14 | | by Chapter 708 (H.B. 1128), Acts of the 84th Legislature, Regular |
|---|
| 17 | 15 | | Session, 2015, is amended by adding Subsection (c-1) and amending |
|---|
| 18 | 16 | | Subsection (d) to read as follows: |

| 19 | 17 | | (c-1) The department shall issue specialty license plates |
|---|
| 20 | 18 | | for recipients of the Combat Medical Badge. License plates issued |
|---|
| 21 | 19 | | under this subsection must include the Combat Medical Badge emblem |
|---|
| 22 | 20 | | and must include the words "Combat Medical Badge" at the bottom of |
|---|
| 23 | 21 | | each plate. |
|---|
| 24 | 22 | | (d) A specialty license plate issued under this section for |
|---|
| 25 | 23 | | a badge or ribbon that may be awarded more than once shall [For |
|---|
| 26 | 24 | | purposes of Subsections (a) and (c), if a branch of the United |
|---|
| 27 | 25 | | States armed forces awards a Combat Action Badge or Ribbon with a |
|---|
| 28 | 26 | | unique emblem for each award of the Combat Action Badge or Ribbon to |
|---|
| 29 | 27 | | a recipient, the department shall only issue specialty license |
|---|
| 30 | 28 | | plates that] include only the [unique] emblem of the first award |
|---|
| 31 | 29 | | badge or ribbon. |

| 32 | 30 | | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
