64 AN ACT
75 relating to the board of directors of the Maverick County Hospital
86 District.
97 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
108 SECTION 1. Section 1118.054, Special District Local Laws
119 Code, is amended by amending Subsection (a) and adding Subsection
1210 (c) to read as follows:
1311 (a) If a vacancy occurs in the office of director, the
1412 remaining directors by majority [a unanimous] vote shall appoint a
1513 director for the unexpired term.
1614 (c) If the number of directors is reduced to fewer than
1715 three for any reason, the remaining directors shall immediately
1816 call a special election to fill the vacancies. If the remaining
1917 directors do not call the election, a district court, on
2018 application of a district voter or taxpayer, may order the
2119 directors to hold the election.
2220 SECTION 2. Section 1118.055, Special District Local Laws
2321 Code, is amended to read as follows:
2422 Sec. 1118.055. OFFICERS. The board shall elect from among
2523 its members a chairman, a vice-chairman, [president,] a secretary,
2624 and a treasurer at the first meeting after each directors'
2725 election.
2826 SECTION 3. Section 1118.207(a), Special District Local Laws
2927 Code, is amended to read as follows:
3028 (a) The board chairman [president] shall execute the
3129 district's bonds in the district's name.
3230 SECTION 4. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017.
