9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Section 6.412(e), Tax Code, is amended to read as | |
11 | 11 | follows: | |
12 | 12 | (e) A person who has served for all or part of three | |
13 | 13 | consecutive terms as a board member on an appraisal review board is | |
14 | 14 | ineligible to serve on the [appraisal review] board during a term | |
15 | 15 | that begins on the next January 1 following the third of those | |
16 | 16 | consecutive terms. The limitation prescribed by this subsection | |
17 | 17 | does not apply to a member of the appraisal review board of an | |
18 | 18 | appraisal district established for a county having a population of | |
19 | 19 | less than 100,000 if, at the time the board member's term expires, | |
20 | 20 | there is no person seeking appointment to the board who is eligible | |
21 | 21 | under this subchapter to serve on the board and who could fill that | |
22 | 22 | member's position on the board. | |
23 | 23 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
