SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 107
WHEREAS, A 65th wedding anniversary marks a lifetime of
mutual devotion and shared experiences, and Doyle and JoAnna
Nelson of Quitman celebrated this joyous milestone in their
marriage on August 3, 2016; and
WHEREAS, On that memorable day in 1951, Doyle D. Nelson and
the former JoAnna Harbuck were joined in matrimony at a ceremony
in Irving; through the years, they have been blessed with a fine
family that includes their children, Janet Zachary and her husband,
Mike, Nancy Jackson and her husband, Tim, and Russell Nelson and
his wife, Cindy, as well as their grandchildren, Matt, Anna,
Elizabeth, Bettye, Adam, and Ben, and their great-grandsons,
Ayden and Abel; and
WHEREAS, Valued residents of Quitman since 1971, Mr. Nelson
retired after being self-employed throughout his career, and
Mrs. Nelson served as district clerk of Wood County for 14 years
before her retirement; and
WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Nelson have enjoyed six and a half
decades of abiding love and affection for each other, and they
are among an exceptional group of men and women who can claim such
a lasting commitment; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
Legislature, hereby congratulate Doyle and JoAnna Nelson on
their 65th wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best
wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
the couple as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
