| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, A 70th wedding anniversary marks a lifetime of |

| 3 | 3 | | mutual devotion and shared experiences, and Nolan and Juanece |

| 4 | 4 | | Smith celebrated this joyous milestone in their marriage on |

| 5 | 5 | | July 12, 2016; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Nolan Smith and the former Juanece Underwood |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | were joined in matrimony in 1946 in Nacogdoches; over the years, |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | their treasured family grew to include their two sons, Rodney |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | and Reginald, as well as their grandchildren, Cherie and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Brandon, and great-grandson, Tommy; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, Respected members of their community, the couple |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | were longtime educators, and they both retired from the Troup |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Independent School District, where Mr. Smith served as an |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | elementary school principal and Mrs. Smith worked as a high |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | school teacher; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Smith have enjoyed seven decades of |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | abiding love and affection for each other, and they are among an |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | exceptional group of men and women who can claim such a lasting |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | commitment; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Legislature, hereby congratulate Nolan and Juanece Smith on |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | their 70th wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further |

| 24 | 24 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
