| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | citizens of Brownsville in mourning the loss of Eduardo Genis |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | Aguilar, who died August 2, 2016, at the age of 79; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Born in 1936, Eduardo Aguilar was a longtime |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | resident of Brownsville; he touched the lives of others through |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | his kindness, his wise counsel, and his contributions to the |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | community; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Ed Aguilar was a respected educator who taught |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Spanish and French at The University of Texas at Brownsville and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Texas Southmost College for many years; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, An active member of his community, Ed served in a |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | number of leadership roles; he was a potentate of the local |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Shriners chapter, and he was president of the West Brownsville |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Lions Club; he was a congregant of the First United Methodist |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Church, where he served on several boards and as the church |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | treasurer; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, A devoted husband and father, Ed Aguilar was |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | respected and admired by many, and he leaves behind memories that |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | will long be cherished by all who were privileged to share in his |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | life; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | family of Eduardo Genis Aguilar; and, be it further |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | memory of Eduardo Aguilar. |
