SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 126 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Francisco "Pancho" Ochoa Sr. for his outstanding success as an entrepreneur in the restaurant industry; and WHEREAS, Pancho Ochoa is the patriarch of a family that operates three successful restaurant chains with multiple locations on both sides of the Texas-Mexico border; he got his start more than 40 years ago by opening a small restaurant known as El Pollo Loco, which grew to include locations in Mexico and Los Angeles; and WHEREAS, After selling the Pollo Loco concept to the Denny's Corporation, he created Taco Palenque in Laredo in 1987, and the restaurant has expanded to include numerous successful franchises; in 2005, he further broadened the family's restaurant business by opening the Palenque Grill, which was so popular that the original location was forced to expand after only three weeks; and WHEREAS, Mr. Ochoa and his family have been successful in this highly competitive industry by maintaining high standards of food quality and consistency and by ensuring that each restaurant is managed by a unified team that provides exceptional customer service; and WHEREAS, An exemplary restaurateur and entrepreneur, he has inspired countless others with his hard work and determination to succeed, and it is truly fitting that he receive special recognition; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th Legislature, hereby commend Francisco "Pancho" Ochoa Sr. on his outstanding achievements and extend to him best wishes for continued success in all his endeavors; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
