| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, Roger Pace concluded his service as Wood County |

| 3 | 3 | | commissioner for Precinct 3 on December 31, 2016, drawing to a |

| 4 | 4 | | close a notable tenure in that office that spanned more than |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | three decades; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Pace joined the Wood County Commissioners |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | Court on January 1, 1985, and served for eight consecutive terms; |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | through the years, he was an effective advocate for his |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | constituents and helped bring about significant improvements |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | within the county, including the construction of the present |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | county jail and the Lake Hawkins RV Park, the purchase of a |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | subcourthouse in Hawkins, and numerous upgrades to roads and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | bridges; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Along the way, Mr. Pace enjoyed the love and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | support of his wife, Sharon, until her passing in January 2016; |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | this esteemed Texan is the proud father of five daughters, and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | he takes great joy in his eight grandchildren and two |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | great-grandchildren; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Roger Pace has demonstrated a deep concern for the |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | public interest and a steadfast commitment to making Wood County |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | an even better place in which to live and work, and he has earned |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | the respect and appreciation of countless fellow Texans; now, |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | therefore, be it |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Legislature, hereby honor Roger Pace for his service as Wood |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | County commissioner for Precinct 3 and extend to him sincere best |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Mr. Pace as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate. |
