| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Project Vida on the occasion of its 25th |

| 4 | 4 | | anniversary; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Project Vida was founded in 1991 in the Chamizal |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | neighborhood of south-central El Paso to support the community's |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | needs and to help its residents improve their lives; it was |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | initiated with contributions from the Presbyterian Church |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | (U.S.A.) and Cumberland Presbyterian Church, and it continues |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | its work today with financial support from these sustaining |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | partners, as well as from a wide range of other public and private |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | entities; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, The organization has expanded its mission's scope |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | to include neighborhoods throughout the El Paso region, along |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | with communities in Hudspeth County and area colonias; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, The many programs and services offered by the |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | organization are administered by the Project Vida Health Center, |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | which operates a network of 13 clinics, the Wellness and Health |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Education Division, the P. V. Community Development Corporation, |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | the Microenterprise Technical Assistance Program, and the |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Education Department; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Project Vida continues to make a profound |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | difference in the lives of countless people throughout the El |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Paso area, and it is truly fitting that it receive special |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | recognition for its outstanding work supporting underserved |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | communities; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Legislature, hereby pay tribute to all associated with Project |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Vida on the occasion of its 25th anniversary and extend to its |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | staff and volunteers best wishes for continued success; and, be |
|---|
