SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 137
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
join Texans across the state in celebrating February 6 through
10, 2017, as School Counseling Week; and
WHEREAS, School counselors are dedicated to helping
students reach their full potential by encouraging them to
explore their abilities, strengths, interests, and talents and to
learn about the role those traits play in career development; and
WHEREAS, Committed to the goal of developing well-rounded
students, school counselors work with parents to recommend ways
they can further the educational, personal, and social growth of
their children; they also collaborate with teachers and other
educators to help students become aware of their potential and
set realistic goals for themselves; and
WHEREAS, To better serve the students of our state, school
counselors identify and utilize community resources that can
enhance and complement school counseling programs; it is truly
fitting that these dedicated professionals receive special
recognition for the vital role they play in equipping today's
students to face the challenges of tomorrow; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
Legislature, hereby commend the state's school counselors on
their commitment to helping students prepare for life in today's
complex world and extend to them best wishes for a productive and
memorable School Counseling Week; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in
honor of this special occasion.
