| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize the Texas Chapter of the National Emergency Number |

| 4 | 4 | | Association and to join citizens from across the state in |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | observing 9-1-1 Day at the Capitol; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The number 9-1-1 is nationally recognized as the |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | number to call in an emergency for immediate help from police, |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | the fire department, or emergency medical services; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Personnel in over 500 public safety answering |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | points daily serve the citizens of Texas by answering their |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | emergency calls and by dispatching appropriate assistance as |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | quickly as possible; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Public safety telecommunicators are the vital |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | link between the citizens calling for help and the agencies which |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | assist them; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, The Texas Chapter of the National Emergency |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Number Association represents the telecommunicators, directors, |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | planning professionals, and industry service providers who are |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | essential to the provision of emergency assistance; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, The members of this outstanding association are |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | dedicated to providing excellent service and to upholding high |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | standards of training and certification; they also work to |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | promote awareness and implementation of 9-1-1 and to integrate |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | new and emerging technology; and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, The 9-1-1 system is of vital importance to the |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | safety of Texas residents, and the upkeep and modernization of |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | this critical system benefits all Texans; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Legislature, hereby commend the Texas Chapter of the National |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Emergency Number Association and proclaim February 6, 2017, as |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | 9-1-1 Day at the Capitol; and, be it further |

| 32 | 32 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in |
