| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | join the Best Southwest Partnership, the Leadership Southwest |

| 4 | 4 | | Class of 2016, and the Leadership Southwest Class of 2017 in |

| 5 | 5 | | celebrating February 15, 2017, as Best Southwest Day at the |

| 6 | 6 | | Capitol; and |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | WHEREAS, The Best Southwest Partnership was founded in |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | 1986 by the Cities of Cedar Hill, DeSoto, Duncanville, and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Lancaster; it expanded in 2016 to include Ferris, Glenn Heights, |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Hutchins, Midlothian, Ovilla, Red Oak, Wilmer, and Balch |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Springs, along with several other partners that include area |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | hospitals, educational institutions, banks, utilities, and local |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | businesses; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Leadership Southwest is a cooperative nine-month |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | leadership program sponsored by local chambers of commerce that |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | calls on established business leaders and community leaders to |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | educate emerging influential residents on such issues as |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | communication, education, law enforcement, the arts, economic |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | development, and transportation; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, The Best Southwest Partnership and Leadership |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Southwest associations have played an important role in the |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | growth and well-being of southwest Dallas County and northern |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Ellis County; it is truly fitting that a day be set aside to |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | celebrate these organizations and their many achievements; now, |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | therefore, be it |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Legislature, hereby extend best wishes to the members of the Best |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Southwest Partnership, the Leadership Southwest Class of 2016, |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | and the Leadership Southwest Class of 2017 for a productive and |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | successful Best Southwest Day at the Capitol; and, be it further |

| 31 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in |
