SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 148 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize F. B. "Lico" Reyes for his outstanding career as an advocate for civil rights and labor rights; and WHEREAS, A distinguished member of his community, Lico Reyes has worked diligently throughout his career to support minorities and laborers of the Lone Star State; and WHEREAS, He has served as a Spanish language interpreter for United States district courts, Texas courts, and numerous state agencies and health care organizations; in 2003, he was appointed by Senator Royce West to serve as a member of the Texas District 23 Criminal Justice Advisory Committee; and WHEREAS, From 2012 to 2016, Mr. Reyes served as an immigration chair for the Texas Council of the League of United Latin American Citizens, and for 20 years, he served as a civil rights investigator for the organization; and WHEREAS, Lico Reyes has advocated on behalf of Texas workers as a representative of both the United Steelworkers Local 9479 and the Arlington division of the Texas Public Employees Association; he has worked tirelessly for the betterment of his community and the state, and he has been honored on numerous occasions for his exemplary work on behalf of Texas citizens; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th Legislature, hereby commend F. B. "Lico" Reyes for his outstanding work on behalf of Texas workers and minority citizens and extend to him best wishes in all his future endeavors; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
