11 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 164
22 WHEREAS, Members of the Texas Aggregates and Concrete
33 Association are gathering in Austin for their Legislative Day
44 at the State Capitol on February 14, 2017; and
55 WHEREAS, The Texas Aggregates and Concrete Association
66 was created in 1974 from the already existing Texas Ready Mixed
77 Concrete Association and the Texas Aggregates Association; and
88 WHEREAS, Today, more than 40 years later, the Texas
99 Aggregates and Concrete Association has over 200 member
1010 companies throughout the state; and
1111 WHEREAS, The Texas Aggregates and Concrete Association
1212 represents 75 percent of the owners of concrete businesses in
1313 Texas, 100 percent of the owners of cement businesses in Texas,
1414 and 80 percent of the owners of aggregates businesses in
1515 Texas; and
1616 WHEREAS, Aggregates, concrete, cement, and related industries
1717 account for nearly $5 billion of the state's economy and
1818 thousands of jobs throughout the state; and
1919 WHEREAS, The Texas Aggregates and Concrete Association
2020 advocates for sustainable funding levels for state infrastructure
2121 sectors that positively affect economic development and job
2222 creation in addition to furthering the business aims of these
2323 vital industries; now, therefore, be it
2424 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
2525 Legislature, hereby welcome the Texas Aggregates and Concrete
2626 Association to the State Capitol and extend to the visiting
2727 delegation sincere best wishes for a meaningful and productive
2828 day at the Capitol; and, be it further
2929 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
3030 the association as an expression of regard from the Texas Senate.
