| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | join the congregation of the Full Gospel Holy Temple fellowship |

| 4 | 4 | | of churches in celebrating the 85th birthday of Dr. Shirley |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | M. Murray at The Legend and The Legacy Birthday Celebration, |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | which is taking place January 20 through 22, 2017; and |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Shirley Murray and her husband, the late |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | Apostle Lobias Murray, cofounded the Full Gospel Holy Temple in |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | 1961; over the years, the church has grown exponentially; it was |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | established in the Dallas area with only six members, and it is |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | now a ministry that has thousands of members in 35 churches |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | across the nation; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, A renowned humanitarian, Dr. Murray has been |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | instrumental in the creation of numerous ministries that serve |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | the people of Dallas, as well as people across the country; she |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | founded Dallas's original Helping Hands Outreach Ministry, and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | she helped establish this state's first privately owned and fully |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | accredited kindergarten through 12th grade African American |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | school; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, In addition, for more than 30 years, she has |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | hosted an annual Women's Conference that draws thousands to the |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex; she also founded a yearly Youth |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Convention that attracts young people from across the country and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | that has helped countless young citizens acquire the knowledge |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | and skills they need to live full and productive lives; and |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | WHEREAS, An accomplished author, she has served as a mentor |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | to numerous ministers, and her commitment to education inspired |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | her to establish the Apostle Lobias Murray Memorial Scholarship |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Fund; she is truly deserving of special recognition for her many |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | contributions to her church and her community; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | Legislature, hereby commend Dr. Shirley M. Murray on her many |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | years of hard work in the ministries of the Full Gospel Holy |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | Temple fellowship of churches and extend to her best wishes on |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | her 85th birthday; and, be it further |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
