| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize the Silver Sorors of the Dallas Alumnae Chapter of |

| 4 | 4 | | Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, who are being honored |

| 5 | 5 | | at the 2017 Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex Joint Founders Day |

| 6 | 6 | | Luncheon on February 25; and |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | WHEREAS, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority was established at |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | Howard University in 1913; through programs of service, the |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | sorority has long worked to encourage young women to strive for |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | academic excellence, to provide support for the vulnerable and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | underserved, and to participate in the establishment of sound |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | public policy; the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex chapters recognize |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | the long-standing members of the sorority for 25, 50, and 75 years |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | of service; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, The Silver Sorors being honored by the Dallas |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Alumnae Chapter are Demetria Chester, Renae Christopher, |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Valencia Nash-McShann, Marsha Thornton, Toni Rose, Tracie |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Shelby, and Rhenett Simpson; over the years, these exemplary |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | women have remained loyal Delta Sigma Theta Sorority members and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | have served as mentors and role models to countless sisters; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, These outstanding women are truly deserving of |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | recognition for their longtime membership in Delta Sigma Theta |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Sorority and for the important role they have played in helping |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | the sorority to fulfill its mission of promoting service on |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | behalf of others; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Legislature, hereby commend the Silver Sorors on their 25 years |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | of service to Delta Sigma Theta Sorority and on their many |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | achievements and extend to them best wishes in all their future |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | endeavors; and, be it further |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
