SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 184
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize the "Dam" Lakefest BBQ Cook-off; and
WHEREAS, This outstanding annual event is sponsored by the
Burleson County Chamber of Commerce and attracts thousands of
visitors each year; the 2017 cook-off is being held on July 15 and
July 16 at Welch Park, which is adjacent to beautiful Lake
Somerville; and
WHEREAS, The "Dam" Lakefest BBQ Cook-off is sanctioned by
the International Barbeque Cookers Association as one of the
organization's state championship cook-offs, and the proceeds
from the event go to support the county's business community in
Somerville and to benefit local youth programs; and
WHEREAS, Texans are noted for their love of barbecue, and
it is hoped that many will attend the "Dam" Lakefest BBQ
Cook-off, which is sure to provide outstanding cuisine to satisfy
the most discriminating of palates; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
Legislature, hereby commend the sponsors of the "Dam" Lakefest
BBQ Cook-off and extend to all participants best wishes for a
successful event; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
them as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
