| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize the "Dam" Lakefest BBQ Cook-off; and |

| 4 | 4 | | WHEREAS, This outstanding annual event is sponsored by the |

| 5 | 5 | | Burleson County Chamber of Commerce and attracts thousands of |

| 6 | 6 | | visitors each year; the 2017 cook-off is being held on July 15 and |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | July 16 at Welch Park, which is adjacent to beautiful Lake |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | Somerville; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The "Dam" Lakefest BBQ Cook-off is sanctioned by |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | the International Barbeque Cookers Association as one of the |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | organization's state championship cook-offs, and the proceeds |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | from the event go to support the county's business community in |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Somerville and to benefit local youth programs; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Texans are noted for their love of barbecue, and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | it is hoped that many will attend the "Dam" Lakefest BBQ |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Cook-off, which is sure to provide outstanding cuisine to satisfy |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | the most discriminating of palates; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Legislature, hereby commend the sponsors of the "Dam" Lakefest |

| 20 | 20 | | BBQ Cook-off and extend to all participants best wishes for a |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | successful event; and, be it further |

| 22 | 22 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |

| 23 | 23 | | them as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. |
