| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize the First State Bank of Brownsboro on the occasion of |

| 4 | 4 | | its 100th anniversary; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, On January 22, 1917, a group of businessmen joined |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | together to form a bank in Brownsboro; the bank was officially |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | chartered on February 17, 1917, and its founding members included |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | J. T. Larue, E. B. Larue, W. J. Stuart, and Ivy Fulgham; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Ivy Fulgham served as the bank's first cashier, |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | and in the early years, he carried money by horseback to the |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | neighboring town of Ben Wheeler, where he secured the funds in a |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | vault; his son, Joe Bryan Fulgham, began working as an assistant |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | cashier at the bank in 1955, and he took over as president when |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | his father died in 1962; today, Ivy Fulgham's grandson, Jeff |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Fulgham, serves as the bank's chief executive officer; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, The First State Bank of Brownsboro has changed |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | considerably since its humble beginnings; the institution has |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | grown to include branches in Murchison and Athens and now has |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | assets of more than $100 million, yet customers continue to |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | depend on the same courteous and professional customer service |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | that the bank has provided for a century; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Legislature, hereby congratulate the staff and administrators of |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | the First State Bank of Brownsboro on 100 years of service in the |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | community and extend to them best wishes for continued success; |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | and, be it further |

| 27 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
