| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, When they married many years ago, Lou and Jim |

| 3 | 3 | | "Corky" Dawson placed great faith and trust in one another, and |

| 4 | 4 | | they have been amply rewarded, as they are celebrating their 50th |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | wedding anniversary; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Lou and Corky Dawson were married on January 21, |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | 1967, after a whirlwind romance and short engagement; they had |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | met one another on a blind date in the fall of 1966 at West Texas |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | State University; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Dawson enjoyed productive careers in |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | education, he as a coach and she as a teacher, before launching a |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | successful Shaklee business; they went on to establish a thriving |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | State Farm Insurance agency in Canyon that set numerous sales |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | records and received multiple awards; they retired and moved to |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Granbury in 2003; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, They have been blessed with a wonderful family; |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | their sons, Jimmy Don, John David, and Joe De, and their seven |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | grandchildren have been a source of much pride and joy; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Over the years, they have grown stronger in their |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | love and devotion as together they have experienced the joys and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | sorrows of everyday living; the long and happy union of Lou and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Corky Dawson is truly an inspiration to others; now, therefore, |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | be it |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Legislature, hereby extend congratulations to Lou and Jim Dawson |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | on their 50th wedding anniversary; and, be it further |

| 27 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
