| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Chief Petty Officer Eugene Tai, who recently retired |
|---|
| 4 | 4 | | after more than two decades of outstanding service with the |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | United States Navy and the United States Navy Reserve; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Chief Tai enlisted in the United States Navy in |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | 1992 and completed his recruit training in Orlando, Florida; |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | after his graduation from Personnelman "A" School, he served |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | aboard the USS George Washington and was deployed to various |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | ports around the world, including ports in the Mediterranean and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Adriatic Seas and in the Persian and Arabian Gulfs; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, After his separation from active duty, he |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | continued to serve his country by joining the United States Navy |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Reserve; his reserve duty history includes time spent with the |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command and with the SEAL |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Delivery Vehicle Team 2; he was recalled to active duty in 2003 |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | and served for two years in support of the Commander of the United |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | States Naval Forces in Europe; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, His awards and decorations include the Navy |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Commendation Medal, the Navy Achievement Medal, and the Naval |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Reserve Meritorious Service Medal; while serving as a reservist, |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | he earned a bachelor's degree from Texas State University; and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Chief Tai has served the nation with distinction, |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | and it is truly fitting that he receive special recognition for |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | his outstanding military career; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Legislature, hereby commend Chief Petty Officer Eugene Tai on his |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | exceptional military service and extend to him best wishes for |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | continued success in all his endeavors; and, be it further |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. |
