11 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 206
22 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
33 recognize Colonel Adrian B. Nettles, who is retiring after a
44 distinguished 31-year career in the United States Army and the
55 Texas Army National Guard; and
66 WHEREAS, Colonel Nettles is retiring from the position of
77 general counsel for the Texas Army National Guard Joint Force
88 Headquarters, where he served as the principal legal advisor for
99 intelligence oversight and policy and regulation interpretation;
1010 he also assisted with legislative affairs at the Joint Force
1111 Headquarters; and
1212 WHEREAS, He received his commission as an officer in 1985
1313 through the Reserve Officers' Training Corps program at Texas A&M
1414 University; he went on to earn a juris doctor degree from the
1515 South Texas College of Law; and
1616 WHEREAS, Colonel Nettles had four overseas deployments,
1717 beginning in 2000 in Bosnia, where he served as a chief of
1818 international and operational law; he went on to serve in three
1919 additional combat deployments, one in Afghanistan and two in
2020 Iraq; while in Iraq, he was appointed as deputy Red Team chief for
2121 General Raymond T. Odierno; and
2222 WHEREAS, His many awards and decorations include the
2323 Legion of Merit, the Bronze Star Medal with two oak leaf
2424 clusters, the Purple Heart, and the United States Congressional
2525 Veterans Commendation Award; he is truly deserving of special
2626 recognition for his courage and sacrifice on behalf of our
2727 nation's ideals and principles; now, therefore, be it
2828 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
2929 Legislature, hereby commend Colonel Adrian B. Nettles on his
3030 outstanding service and dedication to duty and extend to him
3131 best wishes for continued success in all his endeavors; and,
3232 be it further
3333 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
3434 him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
