| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Colonel Adrian B. Nettles, who is retiring after a |
|---|
| 4 | 4 | | distinguished 31-year career in the United States Army and the |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | Texas Army National Guard; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Colonel Nettles is retiring from the position of |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | general counsel for the Texas Army National Guard Joint Force |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | Headquarters, where he served as the principal legal advisor for |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | intelligence oversight and policy and regulation interpretation; |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | he also assisted with legislative affairs at the Joint Force |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Headquarters; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, He received his commission as an officer in 1985 |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | through the Reserve Officers' Training Corps program at Texas A&M |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | University; he went on to earn a juris doctor degree from the |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | South Texas College of Law; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Colonel Nettles had four overseas deployments, |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | beginning in 2000 in Bosnia, where he served as a chief of |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | international and operational law; he went on to serve in three |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | additional combat deployments, one in Afghanistan and two in |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Iraq; while in Iraq, he was appointed as deputy Red Team chief for |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | General Raymond T. Odierno; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, His many awards and decorations include the |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Legion of Merit, the Bronze Star Medal with two oak leaf |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | clusters, the Purple Heart, and the United States Congressional |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Veterans Commendation Award; he is truly deserving of special |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | recognition for his courage and sacrifice on behalf of our |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | nation's ideals and principles; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Legislature, hereby commend Colonel Adrian B. Nettles on his |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | outstanding service and dedication to duty and extend to him |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | best wishes for continued success in all his endeavors; and, |
|---|
