11 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 21
22 WHEREAS, Community colleges play an increasingly important
33 role in higher education in the State of Texas, and on February 7,
44 2017, Texas community college students, administrators, and
55 instructors are gathering at the State Capitol; and
66 WHEREAS, Community college leaders, students, trustees,
77 members of the Texas Association of Community Colleges, and the
88 Community College Association of Texas Trustees have joined
99 together to discuss the essential contributions their schools
1010 make to the state; and
1111 WHEREAS, The total annual enrollment for Texas community
1212 and technical colleges exceeds 700,000 students, accounting for
1313 almost half of the state's postsecondary population and the
1414 largest sector of higher education; and
1515 WHEREAS, The community colleges of Texas clearly serve a
1616 vital function in the education and economic development of the
1717 state, and it is indeed a pleasure to welcome these outstanding
1818 students, instructors, trustees, and administrators to Austin;
1919 now, therefore, be it
2020 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
2121 Legislature, hereby recognize February 7, 2017, as Community
2222 College Day at the State Capitol and extend to all the participants
2323 sincere best wishes for a memorable and productive visit.
