55 WHEREAS, Family and friends will long cherish their memories
66 of Lieutenant Colonel Everett Blanford Scott of Mineola, who
77 passed away on January 2, 2017, at the age of 92; and
88 WHEREAS, Everett Scott was born to Cooper and Ollie Scott
99 on November 7, 1924, in Goodlett; he served his nation during
1010 World War II in the United States Navy and later joined the army,
1111 serving for a total of 32 years and retiring from the Texas Army
1212 National Guard with the rank of lieutenant colonel; in civilian
1313 life, this esteemed Texan served as a Texas state trooper and as
1414 chief of police in Grapevine; and
1515 WHEREAS, A longtime congregant of the First Baptist Church
1616 in Mineola, Everett Scott attended the Couples Three Sunday school
1717 class and proudly served on the committee to renovate the church
1818 sanctuary; he was also active in his local Rotary Club and served
1919 on the executive board for the Mineola League of the Arts; and
2020 WHEREAS, The loss of Colonel Scott is deeply felt by all
2121 who appreciated his warm smile and hospitality, and his memory
2222 will always be cherished by the numerous friends that he made
2323 through the years, as well as by the many people whose lives he
2424 forever enriched; now, therefore, be it
2525 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
2626 Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the memory of Lieutenant
2727 Colonel Everett Blanford Scott and extend sincere condolences to
2828 the members of his family: to his wife, Pat Scott; to his sons,
2929 Everett Ross Scott and his wife, Joanie, and Gary Wayne Scott
3030 and his wife, Debbie; to his stepdaughter, Rebecca Lynn
3131 Garcia-Ortiz, and stepsons, Robert Allen Blair, Donald Lynden
3232 Blair, and David Ted Blair; to his 16 grandchildren and 19
3333 great-grandchildren; and to his other relatives and friends;
3434 and, be it further
3535 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
3636 his family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns this day, it do
3737 so in memory of Lieutenant Colonel Everett Blanford Scott.
