5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Family and friends will long cherish their memories |

6 | 6 | | of Lieutenant Colonel Everett Blanford Scott of Mineola, who |

7 | 7 | | passed away on January 2, 2017, at the age of 92; and |
---|
8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Everett Scott was born to Cooper and Ollie Scott |
---|
9 | 9 | | on November 7, 1924, in Goodlett; he served his nation during |
---|
10 | 10 | | World War II in the United States Navy and later joined the army, |
---|
11 | 11 | | serving for a total of 32 years and retiring from the Texas Army |
---|
12 | 12 | | National Guard with the rank of lieutenant colonel; in civilian |
---|
13 | 13 | | life, this esteemed Texan served as a Texas state trooper and as |
---|
14 | 14 | | chief of police in Grapevine; and |
---|
15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, A longtime congregant of the First Baptist Church |
---|
16 | 16 | | in Mineola, Everett Scott attended the Couples Three Sunday school |
---|
17 | 17 | | class and proudly served on the committee to renovate the church |
---|
18 | 18 | | sanctuary; he was also active in his local Rotary Club and served |
---|
19 | 19 | | on the executive board for the Mineola League of the Arts; and |
---|
20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, The loss of Colonel Scott is deeply felt by all |
---|
21 | 21 | | who appreciated his warm smile and hospitality, and his memory |
---|
22 | 22 | | will always be cherished by the numerous friends that he made |
---|
23 | 23 | | through the years, as well as by the many people whose lives he |
---|
24 | 24 | | forever enriched; now, therefore, be it |
---|
25 | 25 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
---|
26 | 26 | | Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the memory of Lieutenant |
---|
27 | 27 | | Colonel Everett Blanford Scott and extend sincere condolences to |

28 | 28 | | the members of his family: to his wife, Pat Scott; to his sons, |

29 | 29 | | Everett Ross Scott and his wife, Joanie, and Gary Wayne Scott |

30 | 30 | | and his wife, Debbie; to his stepdaughter, Rebecca Lynn |

31 | 31 | | Garcia-Ortiz, and stepsons, Robert Allen Blair, Donald Lynden |
