| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, An inspiring couple whose lives have been enhanced |

| 3 | 3 | | by a great and enduring love, the Reverend Darnell Thomas Sr. |

| 4 | 4 | | and Helen Thomas celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | September 17, 2016; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Reverend and Mrs. Thomas were united in matrimony |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | in Liberty in 1951; over the years, their family grew to include |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | their two sons, as well as their two grandchildren and four |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | great-grandchildren; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Respected members of their community, Reverend |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Thomas pastored for half a century and worked as a barber before |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | his retirement, and Mrs. Thomas is a retired federal government |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | civil servant and a certified teacher; they are valued congregants of |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | the North Avenue United Methodist Church in Pittsburg; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, While much has changed in the world over the past |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | six and a half decades, this devoted husband and wife have |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | remained constant in their commitment to each other, and the |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | strength of their love has enabled them to meet life's challenges |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | and opportunities with grace and optimism; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Legislature, hereby congratulate the Reverend Darnell Thomas Sr. |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | and Helen Thomas on their 65th wedding anniversary and extend to |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | them sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further |

| 24 | 24 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
