| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | of El Paso in mourning the loss of Robert Lyons, who died January |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | 25, 2017, at the age of 62; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Bobby Lyons was born on June 15, 1954, in Orlando, |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Florida, and his family settled in El Paso when he was a teenager; |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | he became a varsity golfer while attending Burgess High School, |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | and he went on to earn a bachelor of business administration |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | degree from The University of Texas at El Paso; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Bobby contributed greatly to the vitality of the |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | El Paso community as a successful restaurateur; by the age of 23, |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | he had opened his first business, Lyons Bar and Restaurant, and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | he later became the owner and operator of the Kona Kreek |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Steakhouse; he played a key role in reviving the El Paso Club, a |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | time-honored social club located at the top of the Chase Building |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | downtown, and he served as general manager of the establishment |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | for six years; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Bobby Lyons was known as the quintessential |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | gentleman, and he always looked forward to a round of golf, a |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Chevy Chase comedy, or a good scotch; he was a devoted son and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | father and a beloved member of his community, and he leaves |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | behind memories that will long be cherished by all who were |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | privileged to share in his life; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | family of Robert Lyons; and, be it further |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | memory of Robert Lyons. |
