| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | welcome the members of the Association of Texas Professional |

| 4 | 4 | | Educators (ATPE) who are visiting Austin and join them in |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | celebrating March 6, 2017, as ATPE Day at the Capitol; and |

| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The ATPE was founded to serve the needs of Texas |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | teachers, paraprofessionals, administrators, and public |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | education employees; it is the largest educators' association in |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Texas and the largest independent educators' association in the |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | United States; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, The association is owned and governed by more than |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | 100,000 members, whose actions are guided by the tenets |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | established by its board of directors; it encourages |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | participation in the political process and calls on members to |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | serve as leaders in their communities; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, The association works diligently to protect the |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | rights of educators across the state and strives to ensure that |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | the state's schools are among the best in the nation; its members |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | are having a profound impact on the future of this state as they |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | prepare the schoolchildren of Texas to be successful in a complex |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | world; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Legislature, hereby commend the members of the Association of |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Texas Professional Educators on their commitment to excellence |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | in education and extend to them best wishes for a productive and |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | memorable ATPE Day at the Capitol; and, be it further |

| 27 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
