| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Tropical Texas Behavioral Health on the occasion of its |
|---|
| 4 | 4 | | 50th anniversary; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Tropical Texas Behavioral Health was one of the |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | first in-state community mental health and intellectual and |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | developmental disability centers to be established after the |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | passage of House Bill 3, which was enacted to seek effective |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | alternatives to treatment provided in state-run facilities; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Originally known as Hidalgo County Mental Health |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | and Mental Retardation Center, Tropical Texas Behavioral Health |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | began as a small operation providing limited services out of the |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | basement of Grandview Hospital in Edinburg; it has since grown to |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | offer a complete range of essential mental health programs and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | services, including counseling, crisis intervention, supported |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | employment, jail diversion, and primary care services; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Tropical Texas Behavioral Health has consistently |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | received the highest certification from the Commission on the |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities International; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, This exceptional organization has had a profound |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | impact on the lives of countless people throughout the Rio Grande |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Valley, and it is truly deserving of special recognition upon |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | reaching this milestone in its history; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Legislature, hereby commend the staff, administrators, and |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | volunteers of Tropical Texas Behavioral Health on their |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | commitment to better mental health services in Texas and extend |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | to all associated with the system best wishes for a memorable |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | 50th anniversary; and, be it further |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | this exemplary organization as an expression of high regard from |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | the Texas Senate. |
