                            SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 248
 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
 welcome the registered nurses and licensed vocational nurses who
 are visiting the State Capitol on February 28, 2017, as part of
 Nurse Day at the Capitol; and
 WHEREAS, The 300,000 registered nurses and 100,000
 licensed vocational nurses caring for Texans every day in
 hospitals, nursing homes, home health agencies and other
 settings are critical to the quality of health care provided in
 our state; and
 WHEREAS, Nurses are consistently rated by the Gallup Poll
 as highest in honesty and ethical standards of all professionals
 each year; and
 WHEREAS, The members of the Texas Nurses Association and
 the Licensed Vocational Nurses Association of Texas and the other
 Texas nursing organizations represented at the Capitol today
 share a mission of advocacy for excellence in care for their
 patients both at the bedside and in the public arena; and
 WHEREAS, Texas nurses deserve our respect, praise, and
 admiration for their commitment to bringing the highest quality
 of care to the citizens of this state and their dedication to
 their work on behalf of their patients; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
 Legislature, hereby proclaim February 28, 2017, Nurse Day at the
 Capitol and commend all nurses for their invaluable service to
 this State; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in
 honor of the nursing profession as an expression of high regard
 from the Texas Senate.
