44 Sandra Longoria Yturria
55 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and
66 commemorates the life of Sandra Longoria Yturria, who died
77 November 17, 2015, at the age of 71; and
88 WHEREAS, Sandra Yturria was born September 13, 1944, in
99 Houston; she was adopted by her loving parents, Mildred and
1010 Shelby Longoria, and grew up in Matamoros, Tamaulipas, Mexico; a
1111 1963 graduate of Saint Mary's Hall in San Antonio, she attended
1212 Finch College in New York City; and
1313 WHEREAS, She and her beloved husband, Fausto Yturria Jr.,
1414 married on June 28, 1964, at Sacred Heart Church in Brownsville;
1515 the couple enjoyed 51 years of marriage, and they were blessed
1616 with three children and three grandchildren; and
1717 WHEREAS, She was as at ease on the shooting range as she was
1818 hosting an elegant dinner party, and her love of travel and her
1919 exquisite taste were evident in the stylish homes she created;
2020 she was active in such civic organizations as the San Antonio
2121 Country Club, the Argyle, Club Giraud, and Shikar Safari Club
2222 International; and
2323 WHEREAS, Mrs. Yturria was a devout Christian who practiced
2424 her faith in her daily life and was a member of Sacred Heart
2525 Church; a woman of courage, strength, and compassion, she gave
2626 generously to others, and her joyful countenance, her ability to
2727 touch the lives of others, and her enthusiasm for living each day
2828 to the fullest will not be forgotten; and
2929 WHEREAS, She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother,
3030 and she leaves behind memories that will be treasured forever by
3131 her family and countless friends; now, therefore, be it
3232 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
3333 Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
3434 family of Sandra Longoria Yturria; and, be it further
3535 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
3636 her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
3737 Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
3838 memory of Sandra Longoria Yturria.
