| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | commemorates the life of Sandra Longoria Yturria, who died |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | November 17, 2015, at the age of 71; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Sandra Yturria was born September 13, 1944, in |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Houston; she was adopted by her loving parents, Mildred and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Shelby Longoria, and grew up in Matamoros, Tamaulipas, Mexico; a |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | 1963 graduate of Saint Mary's Hall in San Antonio, she attended |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Finch College in New York City; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, She and her beloved husband, Fausto Yturria Jr., |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | married on June 28, 1964, at Sacred Heart Church in Brownsville; |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | the couple enjoyed 51 years of marriage, and they were blessed |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | with three children and three grandchildren; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, She was as at ease on the shooting range as she was |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | hosting an elegant dinner party, and her love of travel and her |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | exquisite taste were evident in the stylish homes she created; |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | she was active in such civic organizations as the San Antonio |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Country Club, the Argyle, Club Giraud, and Shikar Safari Club |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | International; and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Mrs. Yturria was a devout Christian who practiced |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | her faith in her daily life and was a member of Sacred Heart |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Church; a woman of courage, strength, and compassion, she gave |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | generously to others, and her joyful countenance, her ability to |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | touch the lives of others, and her enthusiasm for living each day |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | to the fullest will not be forgotten; and |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | WHEREAS, She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | and she leaves behind memories that will be treasured forever by |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | her family and countless friends; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | family of Sandra Longoria Yturria; and, be it further |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in |
