| 3 | 3 | | Association are gathering in Austin on February 22, 2017, to |

| 4 | 4 | | celebrate Texas Building Owners and Managers Association |

| 5 | 5 | | Advocacy Day at the State Capitol; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Established in 1937 as the state federated |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | organization of BOMA International, the association represents |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | the interests of stakeholders in the commercial real estate |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | business; it is composed of 2,500 members and six federated |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | associations in Austin, Corpus Christi, Dallas, Fort Worth, |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Houston, and San Antonio; as leaders in a vital industry, its |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | members support over 109,000 jobs, provide $3.2 billion in new |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | personal earnings, and contribute more than $13.8 billion to the |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | state economy; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, The association is aligned with its parent |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | organization and local affiliates in working to reduce the |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | environmental impact of development by advancing energy efficiency |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | and sustainability initiatives; since 2007, BOMA International |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | has been honored by the United States Environmental Protection |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Agency and the United States Department of Energy with eight |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | ENERGY STAR Sustained Excellence Partner of the Year Awards; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, For the past 80 years, the Texas Building Owners |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | and Managers Association has served as a voice for those who |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | work in the commercial real estate industry while helping to |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | promote responsible building practices, and the association's |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | legislative day provides a welcome opportunity to recognize the |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | dedicated efforts of its membership; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Legislature, hereby recognize February 22, 2017, as Texas |

| 30 | 30 | | Building Owners and Managers Association Advocacy Day at the |

| 31 | 31 | | State Capitol and extend sincere best wishes to the members of |
