| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Alyce Roberta Gay Goff, who is being honored as a |

| 4 | 4 | | 75-year Soror of the Dallas Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | Sorority, Incorporated, at the 2017 Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | Joint Founders Day Luncheon on February 25; and |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | WHEREAS, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority was established at |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | Howard University in 1913; through programs of service, the |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | sorority has long worked to encourage young women to strive for |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | academic excellence, to provide support for the vulnerable and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | underserved, and to participate in the establishment of sound |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | public policy; the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex chapters |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | recognize the long-standing members of the sorority for 25, 50, |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | and 75 years of service; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Alyce Goff was initiated into the Alpha Iota |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Chapter in 1942 at Wiley College; she is a talented musician and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | author and has been the recipient of numerous awards; over the |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | years, she has remained a loyal and active Delta Sigma Theta |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Sorority member and has served as a mentor and role model to |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | countless sisters; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, This outstanding woman is truly deserving of |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | recognition for her longtime membership in Delta Sigma Theta |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Sorority and for the important role she has played in helping the |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | sorority to fulfill its mission of promoting service on behalf of |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | others; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Legislature, hereby commend Alyce Roberta Gay Goff on her 75 |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | years of service to Delta Sigma Theta Sorority and on her many |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | achievements and extend to her best wishes in all her future |

| 30 | 30 | | endeavors; and, be it further |

| 31 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
