| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Jerry Jones, who was recently elected for induction |

| 4 | 4 | | into the Pro Football Hall of Fame; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Jerry Jones is the owner of the Dallas Cowboys, |

| 6 | 6 | | one of the most successful franchises in National Football |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | League history; under his stewardship, the Cowboys have |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | advanced to the playoffs 13 times and have won three Super |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Bowl titles; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Jones is the only team owner in league history |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | to play for a collegiate national championship football team |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | and own a Super Bowl winner; he purchased the Cowboys in 1989 |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | for $140 million, and today, the franchise is worth more than |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | $4 billion; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, He was the driving force behind the design and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | construction of the state-of-the-art AT&T Stadium in Arlington; |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | the stadium opened in 2009 and has hosted Super Bowl XLV, the |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | 2014 National Collegiate Athletic Association Final Four, and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | the inaugural College Football Playoff Championship Game, in |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | addition to serving as the home field of the Cowboys; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Jones has been active with a wide range of |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | charitable and civic organizations, such as the Salvation Army, |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | which gave Mr. Jones and his wife, Gene, the Evangeline Booth |

| 24 | 24 | | Award, one of the organization's highest honors; and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, His innovations in the areas of marketing, |

| 26 | 26 | | corporate sponsorships, stadium development, and community |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | service have had a profound impact on the National Football |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | League and the face of American sports, and it is truly fitting |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | that he receive special recognition; now, therefore, be it |

| 30 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | Legislature, hereby commend Jerry Jones on his outstanding |

| 32 | 32 | | achievements as owner of the Dallas Cowboys and extend |

| 33 | 33 | | congratulations to him on his selection for induction into the |
