SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 288 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Dr. Enrique Perez for more than 35 years of outstanding service with the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service; and WHEREAS, Dr. Perez currently serves as the Cameron County extension agent for Agriculture Programs for the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service; a graduate of Texas A&I University, he began his career in agriculture in 1979 as an agronomy research technician in Corpus Christi; and WHEREAS, In 1981, he began serving as an extension agent for agriculture and 4-H youth programs in San Benito, and two years later, he became the extension agent for Starr County; he moved to Cameron County to serve as head of the agriculture extension program in 1998; and WHEREAS, Dr. Perez was instrumental in forging the partnership between the Cameron County Master Gardener Program and the Cameron County Commissioners Court that created an urban horticulture arboretum that serves as an educational center for young people and adults; he has also hosted the highly successful Extension International Agriculture Program; and WHEREAS, He has served on numerous state and national committees and has received many awards for his work, notably the State Distinguished County Agent Award for Career Level, the highest honor given to county extension agents; it is truly fitting that he receive special recognition; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th Legislature, hereby commend Dr. Enrique Perez on his many contributions to agriculture in our state and extend to him best wishes for continued success in all his endeavors; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
