| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Dr. Enrique Perez for more than 35 years of outstanding |
|---|
| 4 | 4 | | service with the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Perez currently serves as the Cameron County |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | extension agent for Agriculture Programs for the Texas A&M |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | AgriLife Extension Service; a graduate of Texas A&I University, |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | he began his career in agriculture in 1979 as an agronomy |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | research technician in Corpus Christi; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, In 1981, he began serving as an extension agent |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | for agriculture and 4-H youth programs in San Benito, and two |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | years later, he became the extension agent for Starr County; he |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | moved to Cameron County to serve as head of the agriculture |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | extension program in 1998; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Perez was instrumental in forging the |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | partnership between the Cameron County Master Gardener Program |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | and the Cameron County Commissioners Court that created an urban |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | horticulture arboretum that serves as an educational center for |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | young people and adults; he has also hosted the highly successful |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Extension International Agriculture Program; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, He has served on numerous state and national |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | committees and has received many awards for his work, notably the |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | State Distinguished County Agent Award for Career Level, the |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | highest honor given to county extension agents; it is truly |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | fitting that he receive special recognition; now, therefore, |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | be it |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Legislature, hereby commend Dr. Enrique Perez on his many |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | contributions to agriculture in our state and extend to him best |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | wishes for continued success in all his endeavors; and, be |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | it further |

| 32 | 32 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
