SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 309
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize Lauren Holtkamp of Conroe, who has been named the
recipient of a 2017 Prudential Spirit of Community Award; and
WHEREAS, This prestigious honor is presented by Prudential
Financial in partnership with the National Association of
Secondary School Principals; it recognizes young volunteers
across America who have demonstrated an extraordinary commitment
to serving their communities; and
WHEREAS, Lauren Holtkamp is a senior at Conroe High School
and a member of Montgomery County 4-H; she organized the Special
Angels Rodeo, an event that offered special needs children and
their families an opportunity for a fun day at the rodeo with such
activities as games and a petting zoo; and
WHEREAS, In order to stage this exemplary event, she
solicited donations and worked with her 4-H club, and more
importantly, she contacted every special education department
leader in the county to recruit contestants; and
WHEREAS, The success of our state, the strength of our
communities, and the vitality of American society depend in large
part on the dedication of young people like Lauren Holtkamp to
use their considerable talents and resources in service to
others; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
Legislature, hereby commend Lauren Holtkamp on her commitment to
public service and extend congratulations to her on receiving a
2017 Prudential Spirit of Community Award; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
