| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Lauren Holtkamp of Conroe, who has been named the |

| 4 | 4 | | recipient of a 2017 Prudential Spirit of Community Award; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, This prestigious honor is presented by Prudential |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | Financial in partnership with the National Association of |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | Secondary School Principals; it recognizes young volunteers |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | across America who have demonstrated an extraordinary commitment |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | to serving their communities; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Lauren Holtkamp is a senior at Conroe High School |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | and a member of Montgomery County 4-H; she organized the Special |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Angels Rodeo, an event that offered special needs children and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | their families an opportunity for a fun day at the rodeo with such |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | activities as games and a petting zoo; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, In order to stage this exemplary event, she |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | solicited donations and worked with her 4-H club, and more |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | importantly, she contacted every special education department |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | leader in the county to recruit contestants; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, The success of our state, the strength of our |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | communities, and the vitality of American society depend in large |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | part on the dedication of young people like Lauren Holtkamp to |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | use their considerable talents and resources in service to |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | others; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Legislature, hereby commend Lauren Holtkamp on her commitment to |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | public service and extend congratulations to her on receiving a |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | 2017 Prudential Spirit of Community Award; and, be it further |
